Emraan Hashmi is an Indian film actor who primarily works in Hindi cinema. His full name is Syed Emraan Anwar Hashmi. He was born on March 24, 1979, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
He made his acting debut in the crime film Footpath (2003). Prior to this, he worked as an assistant director on the horror film Raaz (2002). He achieved a breakthrough with the erotic thriller Murder (2004). His filmography includes a variety of successful films such as Zeher (2005), Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005), Gangster (2006), Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010), The Dirty Picture (2011), Murder 2 (2011), Shanghai (2012), and Tiger 3 (2023). He has received four Filmfare Award nominations.
He belongs to the Bhatt family, as he is the nephew of director-producers Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt. His cousins include actresses Alia Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt, and director Mohit Suri.
He is married to Parveen Shahani (since 2006) and they have one son, Ayaan Hashmi (born in 2010).
