“Prithviraj Chauhan (Chavan) Resigned? When?” – Alia Bhatt Does It Again

We had thought that Alia Bhatt might have come out clean from her Dumb-Alia fiasco post Koffee With Karan when AIB did a fantastic video on the actress. Singing about Faraday is another story but the actress is not sure who the Chief Minister of her state is.

At the launch event of Alia By Jabong yesterday, the actress was very confident that Prithviraj Chauhan is the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. For some reason, she calls him Chauhan instead of Chavan. When informed about his resignation, she gasped, “He resigned? When?”

Deviating from it, she said, “You can ask me about Narendra Modi. I watched his speech at Madison Square. I know he spoke about sanitation. I watched his speech at Central Park also where he said ‘Hugh Jackman live strong’ or something like that.”

Given Alia’s responses, the reflex question was finally asked at the event. Apparently Alia Bhatt had paid All India Bakc#### to make the video Alia: Genius of the Year. Rubbishing it, the actress told the media, “The AIB boys got very offended. It’s stupid. You do something to have fun and people are saying that. One of them actually tweeted saying that ‘Yes Alia did pay me a lot of money, just bought an island.’ That’s our answer. We did it for fun. I did their first video which was a spoof on Ishqwala Love so I’ve always been up for making fun of myself.”

But the conclusion remains, Alia’s diet prescribed by her brain enlargement doctors has clearly gone haywire. We suspect an overdose of Page 3, acute lack of Murakami and excess measures of Twilight has caused it all over again.

Karan Johar's 'Chyawanprash' Has A New Director

Karan Johar's co-production with Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi was to be directed by Gori Tere Pyaar Mein director Punit Malhotra. We now hear that he has been asked to step down and Tarun Mansukhani of Dostana fame will be joining the film.

Chyawanprash is a remake of a Tamil comedy, and Punit had already started working on the remake when he got the axe. According to the buzz, the decision to replace Punit with Tarun was mostly Karan's decision. Seems like this is Karan's way of retaining Tarun once Dostana 2 was put on the back-burner.

How Hrithik-Katrina's 'Bang Bang' Turned Into 140 Crore Affair - The Lowdown

It is now confirmed, and comes straight from the horse's mouth. Fox Star Studios has produced Bang Bang for a whopping budget of 140 crore (including Prints & Advertising, hence giving it the status of one of the costliest films ever made in Bollywood.

Here is the complete lowdown of what contributed to it, and whether a lesser cost would have at all been justified.

Bang Bang has Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif, two of the biggest superstars of the country, in the lead. No prizes for guessing that they are also two of the highest paid actors in the country. A good chunk of moolah goes there.

From Day One, the USP of some never-seen-before action is being widely spoken about in not just the industry circles but also audiences. A promise has been made that Bollywood would witness something unique. Assurance comes from the fact that Hollywood action director Andy Armstrong (The Amazing Spiderman 2) was roped in to deliver these breath-taking, death-defying stunts. Creating this spectacle definitely needed the best crew in the business or else it would all have looked shoddy. Some of the notable action sequences involved Hrithik driving a F1 car, perform water-ski after being tied to a sea-plane and do the fly board stunts. While such sequences are a first for any Bollywood star, needless to say that the cost incurred on it is huge as well. Of course from the perspective of helping the film gain good eye balls, the job is done, what with the visuals being enticing enough for a big screen extravaganza.

The very genre of the film, which is that of being an adventure affair. With action-romance thrown in for good measure, the stars were required to travel across the world so as to join the dots and solve a mystery which forms the core of Bang Bang! The story travels through Prague, US, Thailand and Greece amongst other countries and the idea was to keep a non-compromising approach on the scale of the film while giving the story its due.

With big vision comes bigger risk - the adage couldn't have been truer here! Director Siddharth Anand wanted to create something larger-than-life and the producers too stuck their necks out to help him achieve that. The film was accordingly granted its mammoth budget.

Says an insider, "Bang Bang is now the hottest film of 2014, a must watch that is riding on super buzz. A compromise on the vision would have completely botched up the look and feel of the film. So kudos to the studio and Siddharth Anand to not get jittery and finishing what they started out to do, which is to make a film that has never been made in Bollywood. Bang Bang has redefined the action genre. It might be a while before any Bollywood actor does an action film of this scale as it would be difficult to match the vision of Bang Bang."

We would know once the film releases this Thursday, October 2.

Ajay Devgn's Return To 'Action Jackson' Double Role Is After A Decade

The buzz is on that Ajay Devgn would be seen in a double role soon. The film in question is 'Action Jackson' and while the First Look - which would be out soon - would pretty much establish what really has Ajay in store for the audience, rest assured it would be fun for the audience to see him two times over.

It is all the more interesting since the double role formula, which was quite dominant in the 80s and the 90s, has been left behind on this side of the Millennium. In fact Ajay himself has stayed away from double roles ever since one can remember.

His last notable double role act was way back in 2001. The film in question was 'Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke' where he was the love interest of both Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta. Just a year before that in 'Deewane' he had also found himself as the center of attraction for both Urmila Matondkar and Mahima Chaudhary.

However his biggest double role still stays on to be 'Hindustan Ki Kasam' where the two characters actually indulged in a face-off with each other. Interestingly, he played an Indian and a Pakistani in the film who are initially at war with each other but eventually join hands to take over the baddies. The film with Amitabh Bachchan adding to the show had in fact even taken one of the biggest opening of all times (though it crash landed later).

Now with Prabhu Dheva all set to revive the double role magic for Ajay Devgn, one hopes that some vintage action drama would arrive on screen all over again. After all, his biggest success till date, 'Rowdy Rathore', too was a double role tale with Akshay Kumar and now that Eros and Gordhan Tanwani are putting their money on 'Action Jackson', the director is expected to deliver huge once the film hits the screens on 5th December.
