Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer Padmavati is based on the life of Rani Padmini. She was the wife of Rana Rawal Ratan Singh, the king of Mewar. In 1303, Alauddin Khilji, the king of the Delhi Sultanate, laid siege to the Chittor Fort in Rajputana. Khilji led the invasion motivated by his desire to capture Rani Padmini.
In this film Deepika Padukone played a character of Rani Padmini and Ranveer Singh played Alauddin Khilji, while Shahid Kapoor played Rana Rawal Ratan Singh.
