The iconic Indian film Sholay is confirmed for a massive re-release in cinemas on December 12, 2025, to mark its 50th anniversary. This special release, titled "Sholay: The Final Cut", is a fully restored, uncut 4K version of the classic film, and notably includes the original ending as envisioned by director Ramesh Sippy, which was previously censored in 1975.For the first time ever in theaters, audiences will witness the original, more violent climax where Thakur (Sanjeev Kumar) kills Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan) with spiked shoes. The original ending was edited out by the censor board during the Emergency period in India due to concerns about excessive violence.

Sholay Movie revolves around a retired police officer who hires two criminals to capture a ruthless dacoit (bandit) responsible for massacring his family and severing his arms.The story is set in the fictional village of Ramgarh, which is terrorized by the brutal and notorious dacoit Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan). The film's protagonist is Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar), a former police officer whose family was almost entirely wiped out by Gabbar, and whose arms were cut off in a brutal act of revenge after Thakur had him arrested years earlier.
Unable to exact vengeance himself, Thakur enlists the help of two small-time, but charismatic, criminals and best friends, Jai (Amitabh Bachchan) and Veeru (Dharmendra). They agree to the mission for a hefty price, and move to Ramgarh to deal with Gabbar Singh, promising to bring him back alive to Thakur.
