She
was born as Alia Advani but changed her first name to Kiara before the
release of her debut film, Fugly (2014), reportedly on the suggestion of
Salman Khan, to avoid confusion with actress Alia Bhatt. Kiara Advani born on July 31, 1991. She is married to actor Sidharth Malhotra. They got married on February
7, 2023, in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The couple welcomed a daughter in July 2025. Her father is Jagdeep Advani, a Sindhi Hindu businessman, and her mother is Genevieve Advani (née Jaffrey), a teacher. She has a younger brother, Mishaal, who is a musician, and an elder sister, Ishita Advani, who is a lawyer.
She attended the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai and graduated with a degree in Mass Communication from Jai Hind College, Mumbai. She also worked as a teacher at a playschool founded by her mother before entering the film industry. Kiara is also related to actors Ashok Kumar (her step-great-grandfather) and Saeed Jaffrey (her great-uncle) through her maternal family.

She received Filmfare Award nominations for Best Actress for her roles in Shershaah and Satyaprem Ki Katha. She was recently seen in the spy action thriller War 2 (2025).
